West Coast Labour MP Damien O'Connor and Classic Hits breakfast host Phil Lemon are joining the 1200 riders in the in Around Brunner Cycle ride tomorrow in support of Heart Children New Zealand.
Lemon says there are twelve babies born every week with a heart defect in New Zealand.
"That's 600 babies every year; Heart Children New Zealand provides lifelong care and support to heart children and their families. I'm looking forward to the ride and riding for a great cause."
The event has attracted entries from throughout New Zealand including former World Champion track rider Hayden Godfrey, five time national champion and current leader of the RaboPlus National Points Series Gordon McCauley, former New Zealand cyclist Paul Odlin and National Points Champion Shem Rodger.
The elite field has 79 entries and is round five of the national points series. Over 1100 riders are taking part in the recreational event.
