This Wednesday the 2009 New Zealand Swimrun Championships will take place at Mission Bay, Auckland to decide the 2XU Compression Stroke & Stride Series.
World Champion, current New Zealand Swimrun Champion and perennial Stroke & Stride title holder Brent Foster faces his sternest test in years as he trails fellow Aucklander Ryan Sissons by 4 points going into the final round of the eight race series.
With three time Stroke & Stride Champion Carmel Hanly sidelined with a foot injury the door has opened for another female athlete to take the crown. Bursting through that door is Whangarei's Simone Ackermann with five victories and a near unassailable lead for the Stroke & Stride title.
Last year the New Zealand Swimrun Champion was another Whangarei athlete Samantha Warriner, for this title to stay in the northland the challenge and hot form of Germany's Lena Brunkhorst will need to be repelled.
The championship event will be contested over a 1000 metre swim 4000 metre run distance starting at 6.15pm. The first athletes home will complete the course in around 25 minutes.
