Are you ready kids? The Go Active Kid's TRYathlon is here Sunday March 7 at the Levin Domain and Aquatic Centre.
Run by Sport Horowhenua, the Levin Aquatic Centre and McDonald's Levin annually, the Go Active Kids TRYathlon is about getting young people out pushing play and having fun. Tied in with National Children's Day, the theme will be 'Praise and Encouragement'.
In previous years, the success of the triathlon has seen more than 200 Horowhenua children take part in the run, bike and swim as either an individual or a team. It is held at the Levin Domain and Aquatic Centre and caters for beginners and for the more experienced by including three age groups.
The event is all about participation rather than competition, as there are no prizes given out for winners, everyone receives a Go Active certificate and there are heaps of spot prizes up for grabs!
Every year to recognise and encourage school participation, McDonald's Levin gives out a cash prize of $200 to the school that has the highest percentage of participants entered. Those who enter before March 4 will receive a Goodie-bag at registration on the day and late entries will be accepted however no goodie bag will be given.
The three age groups are and distances are:
5-7 Years – run 250m, cycle 1 lap, swim 2 lengths of the learner pool.
8-10 Years – run 800m, cycle 4 laps, swim 3 lengths of the main pool (75m).
