Jeremy Yates managed to hold off a fast finishing Aaron Strong to win the 134km stage six of the Tour of Southland today.
A break away of four riders had more than three minutes over the peleton with 30km to go but it was down to just two riders with a chance for stage glory at the foot of the Crown Range.
Yates had a 14 second lead over Strong at the bottom of the final 3km hill climb but this was down to just three seconds as they crossed the line at the top.
Peter Latham who had been in the earlier breakaway held on for third place.
Nelson’s Jack Bauer remains in the yellow jersey with three more stages remaining in the PowerNet Tour of Southland.
