The ZM Women’s Run Swim Series returns to Eastbourne Summer Pool on Sunday 22 November and Hutt City Council is hoping for record entries. Last year, the event attracted over 150 participants.
The series of 8 events is taking place through-out the Wellington region with the final event taking place 20 December 2009.
The friendly and safe event series is designed to encourage women of all ages to get out and about and be active through a series fun and achievable events. Entrants can complete each event by themselves or as part of a team.
At the Eastbourne event, participants need to complete a 4km run/walk and a 450m swim which is an increase on previous years’ distances.
Mayor David Ogden believes this is the perfect series for beginners and says it is all about getting active and giving it a go.
“The run swim series is ideal for beginners as the distances start small and get a little longer each time," he says. "Your fitness and endurance will build throughout the series and a major plus is that you can do it with your friends and family.”
Each event costs $8 or $4 for Wellington City Council Leisure Card holders and maps of the courses are displayed at each pool. Entry forms and event details are available on the Hutt City Council’s events website www.huttvalleynz.com or from swimming pools and libraries around the region.
Entries close for the Eastbourne event on Wednesday 18 November. Some late entries may be accepted on the day if numbers allow.
