Paralympic cyclist, Paula Tesoriero has won the World Championship road race in Bogogno, Italy on Sunday evening NZ time.

After an early break from the main peloton, the race was dueled between Tesoriero and Alison Jones (USA). A decisive break by Tesoriero 500m from the finish line secured a win by six bike lengths. Tesoriero holds the current world record for the 500m time trial on the velodrome and was a gold and bronze medalist at the Beijing Paralympics last year.

On Friday, Jones had pipped Tesoriero for the silver medal in the road time trial.
