Paralympic cyclist Paula Tesoriero has won a bronze medal on Friday evening in the road time trial at the Para-cycling Road World Championships in Bogogno, Italy.
Tesoriero maintained her number three world ranking in the road time trial. The line-up on the dais was the same as the Beijing Paralympics with Barbara Buchan (USA) finishing the 19.4 km course in a time of 32:04, Alison Jones (USA) 32:30, and Tesoriero 32:48.
“Tesoriero’s result at the Road World Championships is quite rare since she specialises in the track sprint events which use different energy systems to the endurance of a road time trial” says Tesoriero’s manager, Chris Bishop.
Paula is looking forward to the road race on Sunday where her sprint skills will be more suited. Bishop said that “the hilly nature of the road race course will suit Paula because of the substantial amount of training that she does in the hills around Wellington and her natural strength”.
