Early Sunday morning (NZ time) five New Zealanders will start out in one of the World's biggest relay events. Jukola is an annual Orienteering relay held in Finland which this year will celebrate its 50th anniversary.

Chris Forne will run for Norwegian Club Wing OK, Ross Morrison and Greg Flynn for the Danish Club OK Pan Århus. Todd Oates and Keith Agmen will run for the Swedish club OK Ravinen.

This year the host town is Mikkeli, in Eastern Finland. The relay has seven legs with distances varying from 7 to 15 km. The relay begins at 11pm (Finnish time) which is dusk in Finland for this time of the year. The relay goes right through the night with the winning teams finishing around 6am the next morning.

In 2008 the Jukola Relay attracted over 1400 teams. Clubs from 20 different countries took part.
