Nine days in the remote wilderness of Patagonia, 600 km across the unspoiled fauna and the magical landscapes of the southernmost point of South America: the 9th Patagonian Expedition Race from February, 8th to 16th 2011, is one big adventure.
This year's race moves north to the area around the Southern Continental Ice Field, which is home of several huge glaciers and one of the last unspoiled regions in the world.
The course consists of a tricky combination of kayaking, mountain biking, trekking and ropework - a demanding challenge for the 15 international teams. The teams of four have to mixed-gender, consisting of at least one woman and one man.
Only map and compass are allowed for navigation and will push all competitors to the limits of human capability.
It's already a tremendous achievement to only reach the finish line but winning it, makes you a legend.
Above its adventure credentials, the event also carries an environmental message with the primary mission to raise awareness of conserving the very landscape it crosses.
