The Silva SuperSeries 2011 is off to a what looks to be a wet start at this weekends Sprint the Bay in normally sunny Hawkes Bay.
Sprint the Bay features 6 short distance mostly urban and very intense orienteering events - where the leader will be wearing the yellow jersey, the best hill climber will be in the polka dot jersey and the best sprinter is in green.
Last years winners Ross Morrison and Angela Simpson will be there - looking to gain some early points necessary to regain their titles but to do so they will have to fiend off the strongest field seen on NZ ground for a while.
All the top national athletes are being challenged by some of best Sprint Orienteers in the world namely Øystein Kvaal Østerbø and Elise Egseth from Norway, but will also have to look out for Julian Dent from Australia.
As always in the first races after a long training period it will very exciting to see which athletes will be on fire and which will be a bit rusty.
Stage 2, Stage 5 and the overall best 5 of 6 races will count towards the Silva SuperSeries 2011 - follow the action on Sprint the Bay.
