Kids aged 7 – 15 years from the Wellington region are invited to register for the Weet-Bix Tryathlon to be held on Sunday 13 February at the Lower Hutt Recreation Grounds.
The Weet-Bix Tryathlon series holds the World Record for being the largest children's sporting event in the world, and last year the Wellington Weet-Bix Tryathlon attracted more than 1,250 local participants.
The popular run, swim and bike event is open to kids of all sporting abilities and participants can complete the course as individuals or with the support of a tag-team of two or three friends.
Senior Product Manager for Weet-Bix, Nigel Chenery is encouraging Wellington kids and families to experience the great atmosphere of a Weet-Bix Tryathlon event.
"Each year children of every confidence and sporting level enter the Weet-Bix Tryathlon and experience the joy of achieving their personal best at a national sporting event," says Mr Chenery.
"We are encouraging local kids to register for the Wellington Weet-Bix Tryathlon and give it a go whether they are a budding athlete or first time participant."
Registrations received before 13 December 2010 will be given a 10% early bird discount, and parents and teachers are encouraged to enter kids as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as the events regularly sell out.
Families and school groups can nominate kids who require financial support in entering the event through the Weet-Bix Tryathlon Foundation, which aims to provide kids of all backgrounds with the opportunity to participate in a Weet-Bix Tryathlon event.
The Weet-Bix Tryathlon Foundation provides funding towards the entry fee as well as assistance with necessary equipment and support to complete the event such as running shoes or swimming lessons.
