I've had a lot of feedback on the Sea to Sky climbs on Banks Peninsula, so here's the first two:
1. Sumner Beach to Mt Pleasant, 499 metres. Monday 25-10-10. This took me two and a half hours beach to beach and was quicker going up than down, probably because it's only four and a half months since I broke my leg and the jarring on the heel as you descend can be painful.
2. Diamond Harbour Beach to Mt Herbert 919 metres. Sunday 31-10-10 at 10.30am. This is almost twice as high as Mt Pleasant and the track goes through the farm I grew up on! This will be the third time I've climbed Mt Herbert, the first when I was 10 and the second when I was 50.
I've timed the start so anyone catching the 9.50am Ferry to Diamond Harbour will have plenty of time to reach the beach by 10.30am. It will probably be about a 5 hour return journey. See you there.
