The popular Contact TriWoman Series is back bigger and better than before with another summer of great events for women of all ages, backgrounds and abilities – with the emphasis on participation and fun in a safe environment and stronger ties to local communities with charities linked to events.

In its second year (in its current format) the Contact TriWoman Series adds three new events to an already busy calendar, with New Plymouth and Invercargill hosting events and Point Chevalier having a second event added to the one it hosted last summer for a total of events the length and breadth of the country.

Triathlon New Zealand Event Manager Haidee Stratford is eagerly anticipating another summer of achievement for the women of New Zealand.

"We are really excited about the 2011Season of the Contact TriWoman Series. 2010 was the first year for us and the first time we have delivered a Women's only Series so there was a lot of 'feet finding' going on!

"The feedback has been great though and so many women have signed up already to cement their goal which is just so inspiring. I just can't wait to get started on 23 January."

Events will once again focus on the achievement of participation and finishing in each person's own time and to their own agenda. This is not an event that celebrates the 'winner' but each and every 'finisher' as if they have won their own race with achievable distances and easy courses.

Stratford says the events will have even closer ties to their communities too.

"The 2011 Season will see a few changes; the most exciting being that each event has been signed up with a charity to help put some much needed funds back into the community, Eastbourne for example will pair up with the MS Society in Wellington.

"Christine O'Sullivan was one of our very inspirational TriWoman entrants last summer. Christine has MS but didn't let that stop her as she took on TriWoman Eastbourne in a team. Partnering with the MS Society is a dream come true for Christine as the partnership will increase the awareness of MS and encourage more people with MS to have a go at a triathlon in a non-threatening environment. I challenge every woman out there to be inspired by the likes of Christine, give this a go and surprise themselves at what they can achieve, enter now at www.tri.co.nz"

Christine herself backs that up with the slogan that appeared on last year's participant tee-shirt.

"I believe that taking part in triathlons is something that is 'doable' for most people. The logo on the TriWoman tee-shirt sums it all up "Believe to Achieve. I'm thrilled that the event will now help raise awareness for MS Society in Wellington."
