Malcolm Law from Auckland has been announced as the recipient of a significant donation as part of the Steinlager Pure, Pure Futures campaign.
Malcolm, who lost his older brother Alan in 1969 to leukaemia says, "Ever since Alan died I have cherished the idea of doing something amazing to help other families whose lives are affected by this cruel disease." Leukaemia affects over 10,000 New Zealanders and the $10,000 will all go directly to the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation.
Last year, after 12 months training and preparation, Malcolm became the first person ever to run New Zealand's seven Great Walks in just seven days. In so doing he raised over $85,000 for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation. This year he came back for more! He is planning a second ultra-endurance run that will see him covering another 350 kms of gruelling trails over just seven days - called the 7in7 Challenge.
Malcolm continues, "Over two years I will have run some 7,000 kms, worn out 16 pairs of running shoes, and donated thousands of hours of my time to this venture. But by the end of it all I hope to have raised that much-needed $250,000. Some have called it Pure Madness. I'd rather think of it as Pure Inspiration." And clearly many other people think so to with 3164 people voting for Malcolm to receive the $10,000 from the Pure Futures campaign.
Todd Gordon, Marketing Manager for Steinlager Pure, the brand behind the site, comments, "Some people say it is not what you know, it is who you know when aiming to achieve great things. In this instance that definitely applies and Malcolm's vision has been applauded by enough people to give us the confidence that he deserves this additional funding* to help him achieve his Pure Vision."
Steinlager Pure's mantra is "Keep it Pure" – a belief that when brewing a beer for New Zealand you must stick to your principles to achieve great results. Being single-minded and not weakened by compromise in the pursuit of excellence. This belief extends from beer, to the view of New Zealand's future. Purefutures.co.nz, launched in April, has had nearly 600 unique visions and over 10,000 registrations of Kiwis with great unique ideas or inventions, all looking for help to take the next step.
With over $40k still available for worthy visions, become part of the future success of New Zealand by posting your vision online and reading others at www.purefutures.co.nz
