Cycling enthusiasts can combine watching the action of the Santos Tour Down Under with a
cycling holiday that lets them test their own cycling skills on the roads of South Australia.
A group of Official Bike Tour Operators are targeting holiday makers from across Australia,
New Zealand, Europe and the USA and offering a range of holiday packages to suit keen
amateur cyclists through to avid spectators.
Five Official Bike Tour Operators have been appointed for the Santos Tour Down Under,
which will be held in Adelaide and regional South Australian from 17-23 January 2011.
“The Official Bike Tour Operators have created a great range cycling holidays for visitors
travelling to South Australia for the Santos Tour Down Under,” says Race Director Mike
Turtur.
“The packaged tours offer choices for all cyclists, from the novice to the most experienced,
who want to combine a cycling holiday with watching the biggest bike race in the Southern
Hemisphere.
“Visitors can watch all the race action as it unfolds, while experiencing the very best of South
Australia’s food, wine and hospitality.”
The five Official Bike Tour Operators for the 2011 Santos Tour Down Under are Adventure
Collective, Barossa Classic Cycle Tours, Bikestyle Tours, Ciclismo Cycling Tours and Trek
Travel.
The Santos Tour Down Under is the biggest cycling race in the Southern Hemisphere, the
first race outside Europe to join the prestigious UCI ProTour, and is now the first race on the
UCI world road cycling calendar.
“The 2010 Santos Tour Down Under drew record crowds of more than three quarters of a
million people to South Australia, including nearly 40,000 visitors from interstate and
overseas,” says Mike Turtur.
“The week-long race is a great celebration of cycling and attracts the world’s top teams and
cyclists such as Lance Armstrong, Cadel Evans, Luis Leon Sanchez and Robbie McEwen.”
