At 9.29am on the 14th October 2009, a cyclist travelling south along Peak Road, Helensville (towards Kumeu), was struck by a 1980s style Toyota utility vehicle.
The vehicle coloured white or cream had a rear deck with a fibreglass hard cover. It appeared to be old and discoloured.
This occurred on a down hill section of the road and the driver of the Toyota vehicle failed to stop after the incident.
The 62 year old male cyclist has since died as a result of his injuries.
Police would like to speak with the driver of the utility vehicle or any witnesses to this incident.
