Kevin O'Sullivan of Timaru has been appointed by Athletics New Zealand as a cross country and road selector.
He replaces John Bowden who resigned last month after accepting a position with Paralympics New Zealand. His appointment by the Board was after an application process that had an extremely positive response from a number of people interested in being on the panel.
O'Sullivan, who served as a cross country selector in the late 1980's, joins Craig Motley of Christchurch and Barry Ellis of Tauranga on the current panel. O'Sullivan has also been appointed convenor of the panel.
He is a former Canterbury middle and long distance running representative. At the 1984 New Zealand marathon championship in Wanganui he won the silver medal behind Barry Thompson. He has served as an administrator and official and was an announcer at the 1990 Auckland Commonwealth Games.
O'Sullivan is the Rector at Timaru Boys' High School.
