The four members of the New Zealand Himalayan Big Wall Expedition have succeeded in climbing a significant new route on Nafees Spire of K7 in the Karakorum ranges of Pakistan.
Bruce Dowrick, Adrian Laing, Scott Standen and Jon Seddon gained a SPARC Hillary Expedition grant to help fund their adventure.
Bruce says the climbers established their intended route on Nafees cap and climbed another two easier spires nearby.
The group set off for the Charakusa Valley in Pakistan in mid-July to attempt the climb on the 1300m vertical granite rock wall.
