Nominations are now open for the 2009 Manawatu Standard Limited and Student City Secondary School Sports Awards.

The awards ceremony is aimed at recognising and acknowledging students for their achievements on the regional, national and international sporting scene for the period October 8 2008 through to October 7 2009.

“The event is a great opportunity in which students and staff members from all 15 Secondary Schools within the Manawatu, Horowhenua and Tararua districts gather to celebrate their sporting successes” says Sport Manawatu’s secondary school sports director Hayden Marshall.

Code awards are presented to the top achieving male and female from each sport and from these a supreme male and female sportsperson of the year is announced. Other categories include Team of the year and Official of the year.

Nomination packs can be collected from the Sport Manawatu office at 50 Queen Street, Palmerston North, from the district offices in Levin, Feilding and Dannevirke, or from secondary schools. Alternatively, copies of the nomination criteria and nomination forms can be downloaded from www.sportmanawatu.org.nz

This year’s ceremony will be held at Palmerston North’s Convention Centre on Friday November 6.

Nominations close on Tuesday October 13 2009.
