Sport and recreation will benefit directly from the bonus one-off allocation from the Lottery Grants Board to Sport and Recreation New Zealand (SPARC).

SPARC will receive an extra $2.84 million on top of the $30.89 million already allocated from the Lottery Grants Board for 2009/10.

SPARC Chief Executive Peter Miskimmin is delighted with the one-off bonus allocation and says it will go directly out to the sport and recreation sector.

“This additional funding is great news as it means SPARC can push the money out to the sector where it is needed.

“This additional funding will have direct, positive impacts for sport and recreation,” Mr Miskimmin said.

The annual allocation from the Lottery Grants Board makes up approximately a third of SPARC’s revenue, and the agency has now received $200 million in Lotteries money since 2003.
