The Outdoor Recreation Strategy (PDF, 568 KB) is the result of a process begun with a SPARC-led review in 2007 of the outdoor recreation sector with support from the Department of Conservation. The review findings were outlined in a discussion document ‘Creating a healthy state for outdoor recreation in New Zealand’ released in July 2008. The strategy was finalised following receipt of public submissions.
A vibrant and co-ordinated recreation sector is one of the five key priorities under the SPARC Strategic Plan 2009-2015 and the successful implementation of the Outdoor Recreation Strategy is one of the deliverables outlined under that priority.
