At around 1pm today police were advised that two people in a guided tour group had been buried in an avalanche in the Ragged Range near Methven.
Emergency personnel were rushed to the scene, including Rescue Services from Mt Hutt ski field.
The two people were located within 20 minutes, one of whom was conscious. There is no further information available on their condition at this time.
Other members of the party were flown to Glenfalloch Station heli-ski base.
