In the Transfer of Allegiance report which is posted on the IAAF's website Aish's transfer was listed in the latest update posted on the 27th of September 2010.

Aish represented New Zealand at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games, the 2002 and 2006 Commonwealth Games and several IAAF World Cross Country, Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field Championships. His last competition in the New Zealand singlet was in the 10.000m at the World Track and Field Champs in Osaka in 2007.

Aish hails from Taranaki and has resided in the United States for 12 years since first attending University at Western State College of Colorado in 1998. Whilst competing for Western State Aish won a number of National Collegiate titles in individual and team events in track and cross country and is married to an American.

In recent years Aish's prescence in NZ competition has been limited and includes the National 10,000m title in 2004 and appearances for his Wellington Scottish Athletics Club at National Road Relay Championships.

Under the old rules Aish would have been eligible for performances under the USA banner from the 15th of September 2010 but with changes that came into effect in April his eligibilty date is now July 2011.
