Start the school holidays with a splash and celebrate the reopening of the Wanaka Community Pool with a FREE pool party this Saturday 25 September from 12:00pm to 2:00pm.
A range of fun and games are in store for the kids with a free sausage sizzle, a load of great prizes and special guest appearances by water safety mascot Paddles and Amber Russell from Radio Wanaka.
Following the pool party locals can enjoy FREE pool entry until 6:00pm as well as take advantage of some great reopening specials including 10 per cent off all pre-paid annual memberships (valid until 2 October 2010) and 20 per cent off all Speedo merchandise (valid Saturday only).
Lakes Leisure aquatics manager Alex Calwell said the reopening party was a great opportunity for locals to come down and check out the recent improvements to the pool.
“We would like to thank the local community for their patience during the recent closure. The reopening party is our way of welcoming everyone back to the pool and we hope to see many of our regulars join us for a swim this Saturday.
“We have a great range of prizes and family fun in store on the day thanks to our fantastic pool party sponsors New World Wanaka, Frucor, Tip Top, Radio Wanaka and Queenstown Rafting. We wholeheartedly thank them for their generous support,” Mr Calwell said.
The reopening of Wanaka Community Pool follows the completion of internal refurbishment work including repainting, internal heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system work, floor resurfacings, chlorine conversion and installation of a new sand filter. The external workings of the HVAC system will be installed in October without any impact on the pool’s operation.
